When will this world bid farewell to-all arms?
Nay, not in a hundred years next, at least!
‘Tis like munition-dumps growing like farms!
To his brethren, Man has become a beast.
When will man realise that love but rules!
Nay, not in a millennium next or more;
History repeats the fact that men are fools;
Too ghastly looks warfare now, to the core.
When will man peacefully coexist, then?
Nay, not in a thousand years or some more;
This world is meant for the strongest of men;
So wars the way that keeps him in the fore.
When will man learn that war is utter waste?
Nay, not until he himself doth it taste.
