The plight of the penguin!
The fate of the whale!
The woes of the dolphin…
Weigh up the scales.
What are we doing to the world, today,
what are we doing to the world?
The fish in the ocean no longer swim free,
the struggle goes on in the depths of the sea,
meshing, drift-netting, other horrors unseen…
What are we doing to the world?
Habits of thought, thick like a weed,
smother the planet with the cancer of greed.
Battles are fought, the lines are decreed:
short-term gain versus long-term need.
Customs of action, the careless misdeeds,
the cost of quick profit, the failure to heed
the inklings of danger cast in the wind…
What are we doing to the world?
The air is stifling, the land is despoiled.
What are we doing to the world?
Great rivers are sewers choking with oil.
What are we doing to the world?
What are we doing to the world, today,
what are we doing to the world?
The lips of our leaders are twisted and curled…
What are we doing to change?
Changing behavior should not be so hard:
freeing our mind-set we learn to discard
the trappings and baubles that disfigure and scar…
How can we change the world?
The answer’s in action both forthright and bold:
the planet, seized, with a purpose resolved
to address all of its’ needs, put ‘progress’ on hold…
Are we ready to change the world?
Can we re-make the world, today,
can we re-shape the world?
If the lies of our leaders are bare-faced and bald…
We must all take control!
A blight and misfortune!
We protest and rail.
Our existence is threatened,
how can we fail?
Weigh up the scales.
Weigh up the scales…
