Always the insider, always looking out.
For subtle nets cast wider, can yet capture hidden doubt.
Always the insider, always looking out,
For the secret self denied ya; that’s what I’m all about!
Always the outsider, always looking in.
Always so full of pride yet she gets beneath my skin.
And though I gently chide her, she takes it on the chin.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
Always the insider, always looking out.
Always the hardy soldier, in a sturdy fort redoubt.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
The emotional Al Qaida, to my walls of guilt and sin.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
She guides her soaring glider high above my storm and wind.
Always the insider, always looking out,
For those that would divide us; I’m both her spy and scout.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
From the summit, like an Eiger, in an atmosphere that’s thin.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
We complement each other, as if we’re co-joined twins.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
Always the decider who defines my world within.
She’s my skittles, she’s my cider: I sup my fill and spin,
As if I might imbibe her; like wine, I drink her in.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
Always an out-rider in defense of hearth and kin.
Always the insider, always long on clout;
With the keyboard cat beside her, she lets our song play out.
Always the outsider, always looking in.
Like a frantic diabetic, who craves his insulin;
As through distorting kaliedescopes, my fractured vision dims…
Always the outsider, always looking in!
