My spirit is broken,
My mind is unhinged.
I’m gagging and choking;
More burnt out than singed.
Beneath the volcano,
Of love’s dark abyss:
How can I go on,
Go on like this?
The knowledge and secrets,
That I have attained;
Burrow deep like a screw worm
In the core of my brain.
And there like a canker,
Of gnostic remain,
Grows an acid and caustic
Tongue in refrain.
My heart is a-pounding,
My night sweats profuse.
My nerves are rebounding;
I’m lost and confused.
Like cascading dominoes,
It’s all hit or miss.
How can I go on,
Go on like this?
My dreams are like egrets,
Of phoenix acclaim.
They soar and they burn;
And then plummet aflame.
And the pain is unending,
For the vanquished and maimed.
And I sit here pretending,
That I’m not to blame.
The blood on my fingers,
Is warm and retains,
It’s moist scent that lingers,
Like all hidden stains.
If the fates are against me,
And the gods know my name.
Will luck up and desert me,
And hurt me again?
My body is weary.
I’m fed up and pissed.
My vision is leery.
I barely exist.
Beneath the volcano,
Of love’s dark abyss.
How can I go on,
Go on like this?
