She called me a liar with fierceness in her eyes;
Told me I had lied, was holding out;
She called me a male chauvinist pig when
I needed my way as my father lay dying;
She told me she liked bodies when I told her
I liked making love to her;
She told me I was an intellectual and
She hated the intellectual in me;
She ranked me absent in my chosen field
When I asked her who she thought was good;
She told me that I had ruined her summer
When she had nearly run us off the road;
She told me I was insane when I tried
To reconcile and refused to recant.
Now she smiles when I pass numbly by;
No doubt she wants to talk
And tell me of her new found friends and fortune.
