Living near the sea
and having had family members
who were mariners
it would be safe to think
I would want to be one to.
But I am A Land Lubber,
I like sitting by the sea
watching the waves rush
to the shore
sparkling like gems under the sun.
I get the sense of distance
sitting on the shore
watching waves curl and roll
to the shore,
thankful I am not on a boat.
The sea is to many a mistress
whose calling lures them forever to sail
with her across the cruel seas
that stretch around the world.
However I am a land lubber
with my feet firmly planted on terra firma.
I get no sea sickness
that can turn your stomach inside out
which suits me just fine.
A land lubber I’ll stay
and a land lubber I’ll always be.
No cruel sea shall I sail
and no rough waters to inhale,
just a relaxer by the sea I’ll be.
