In bygone years thy name was heard
It lived on memory’s faithful page
Twas hallowed by a holy word
Thy mothers name received again.
That though her form was never seen
Her eyes, ne’re looked with love on me;
Yet in my fancies I would deem
Thy youngest sister dear to thee.
And when the dust reclaimed its own,
And anguished hearts a mother mourn!
Our tears have mingled with the moan
‘Our mother and our father gone’! !
But now dear E. thy form is known,
Affection’s light thine eye hath fill’d
Life with its memories must have flown
In death this heart must now be still’d-
Ere thou dear Elinor will be forgotten or not
Loved by your aunt Jane.
