I kiss you: like this.
If I say your lips are petals
I mean only that I kiss a flower:
Like this
Crocus
Which blooms so close to the ground
I have to lie full-length on the ground
To kiss it:
Like this.
If, kissing you, I say
Your lips are soft as breezes
I mean only that I kiss the air:
Like this
Air
We breathe into each others’ mouths, this
Air that God knows
What other mouths have breathed
And flowers kissed
And mouths flowered:
Like this.
When I kiss you like
This flower breathes
My body full-length on the earth
Whose blooming mouths
Kiss this air we breathe,
If I say I kiss you, I mean:
Like this.
