He came into your life
It was twenty years today
Little did we know back then
The tremendous role that he would play
He was delivered to the hospital
With yellow roses in a vase
We placed him in your bassinet
From that day by your side he’d stay
He started off so fresh and clean
His newness pastel yellow
His chubbiness and fullness
Over time the years would mellow
He never really had a name
It was left up to fate to see
Then one day playing in your crib
I heard you call out ‘B’
As you got older days flew past
Your childhood he had shared
Beside you in your bed at night
He helped allay your fears
And for every day when you were sad
It was he who dried your tears
He’s travelled far and wide with you
Your loyal bear friend ‘B’
Not just around the US of A
But France and England too
College came and off you went
Together you and he
Another phase in growing up
With your forever best friend ‘B’
He’s not so new and fresh these days
His stuffing limbs grown thin
His yellowness has faded fast
His button eyes have sunken in
Some may look and see not much
Just a dirty old raggedy bear
But to you my beautiful sweet caring girl
He’ll be loved and always held dear.
