Once I dreamt a wondrous dream
As naïve young boy in innocence
Glimpsed beyond the mountain
Promised land of milk and honey
Where freedom and goodness reign
Love each soul’s strength and purpose.
Once I dreamed a wondrous dream
As callow youth finding my way
Coming to understand God’s magnificence
His love for the children of Adam
Seeing distant light glowing in the darkness
Knowing faith the shield against evil.
Once I dreamt a wondrous dream
As an old man faithful to God
Granted mercy, love and salvation
Following His son’s teachings
Embraced by shining light
Entered everlasting glory of Heaven.
