we drift apart
on winds of change
like autumn leaves
that swirl and sway
afloat on fickle breeze
my mind in aimless trek,
i walk the forest floor,
each step i fear to tread
lest i crush just one more leaf
and hurt you even more
i fear the silence of the trees
when all there is, is endless
rustling of fallen leaves
as i strain to hear
your distant voice
i am deaf with silence,
i felt some joy
but now it’s gone
like one bright leaf
which turned to brown
perhaps, perhaps,
when autumn‘s gone,
i shall have some peace
to freeze my heart
in winter’s balm
