If I were a star,
What would be my lot in life?
Certainly I would question my existence,
How have I come to be?
Look, countless others racing through this seemingly endless void
Whom do I address inquiries to?
I witness others joining in groups,
To what end?
For I behold an ever expanding family of light,
And I feel impelled to belong,
Yes, I have a longing for companionship
Yet, here I am being placed in this constellation,
By hands unseen
Looking down I see my purpose
How is it this great honor is given to me?
For out of an eternity of those much greater that I,
Here I am
All the others,
They applaud my appointment
And not one of them is envious
I shall spread my wings over my blue child
Because it is not about me,
It is about them
I shall never abandon them,
Or leave my post
Through the dark void,
I will rock them to sleep and gently awaken them
Let me warm the backs of those trusting not in me,
But in the hands of both maker of all things
And the source of all light
For I am a star,
His star
And I have indeed found my lot in life
I only pray as any parent,
To give me strength and wisdom,
For children can be difficult
