Eyes drawn to Gaze upon the rose,
Green stem armed spitefully with thorn.
Sweet Apricot that pales too soon,
light petal drop that time will mourn.
As colour fades towards the end
and sorrow masks an empty space.
A time to rest becomes the norm,
life’s foibles settle in deaths place.
Whilst dormant, as fierce winter blows,
all haste and finery well passed.
The signs are clear to those that gaze
one flower never is the last.
Should moment’s spent in recollection.
Sooth, with fragrance laced with myrrh.
Observe the new bud swell and bloom.
This rose reminds us who you were.
Thus drawn to gaze upon the rose.
Green stem armed spitefully with thorn
Sweet Apricot that pales too soon.
Light petal drop that time will mourn.
