This year the season came early for the flowering trees.
At dawn the dark unveiled fresh hues by slow degrees.
The Jacarandas’ tender mauve blooms, the Frangipani
With pure white and pale yellow, Rain tree Cassia pink,
Avenues ablaze with red Gulmohar,
Small gardens showing off a Bougainvillea repertoire:
What bouquets of blooms! The horizon sky unveils
Thin streaks of orange to carmine above the hill-crest,
Before the lordly Sun’s effulgent entrance.
I feel the tactile joy of sight,
Like a fond hand on a baby’s head of curls and spikes. – – – – – – –
